Live-Action Claymore Series in Development with CBS Studios and Propagate Content

CBS Studios and Propagate Content are bringing the beloved dark fantasy manga Claymore to life in a live-action television adaptation. Partnering with Japanese publisher Shueisha, the studios have tapped actor and manga enthusiast Masi Oka (Heroes, Hawaii Five-0) to executive produce the project.

Oka will be joined by Propagate’s Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, and Rodney Ferrell, along with Shueisha, in developing the series. Currently, the search is underway for a writer to bring Claymore’s gripping story to the screen.

Created by Norihiro Yagi, Claymore is set in a medieval world plagued by Yoma—shape-shifting creatures that prey on humans. The only defense against these monstrous beings is a group of elite female warriors known as Claymores, who wield immense power but grapple with their own internal struggles. The upcoming adaptation aims to capture the intense action and the deep moral dilemmas that made both the original manga and anime so compelling.

Masi Oka, a longtime manga collector, has experience adapting Japanese works for Western audiences. He previously co-produced Netflix’s 2017 Death Note film and has maintained a strong relationship with CBS Studios, having starred in Hawaii Five-0. Propagate Content, which previously had a first-look deal with CBS Studios, continues to collaborate with the company on new projects.

With the recent success of live-action manga adaptations—most notably Netflix’s One Piece—there is a growing appetite for faithful, high-quality retellings of beloved series. Fans of Claymore will be eager to see how this dark, action-packed story translates to live action.

Stay tuned for more updates as the project takes shape!
